Provide First Aid - HLTAID003

This course applies to a wide range of settings where first aid emergencies may occur. It is relevant for people working in education, aged and community care, sport, outdoor recreation, travel & tourism, hospitality, industry enterprises as well as in home or other environments.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisite units or courses.  Candidates will need oral communication skills that are sufficient to make an accurate verbal report of a first aid incident to emergency response services and workplace supervisor.  It is recommended that participants have literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 as described in the Certificates of General Education for Adults.

Assessment Methods

Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge.

Award Issued

A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants.

Duration

A one day program with online or home study work book theory completed prior to the course.

Course Content:

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance. It incorporates the contents of HLTCPR211A Perform CPR and HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support.
