Assessment Information

To undertake the assessment for this unit, you will need to supply the assessment criteria as stated in the assessment document. This is provided in this site under Assessment Requirements. All assessments require an Assessment Cover Sheet to be attached and a copy to be held by the student. Please be aware that Albrighton Consulting takes no responsibility for any documents lost in the post. Where possible, scan and email, or save electronic copies of all your assessment documents.

You can also down load the Assessment and RPL Tool should you choose to apply for RPL, and when you submit your assessment or RPL application, you will require a cover sheet to sign and identify the documents origin. This can be downloaded here also.

Assessment Requirements

The assessment requirements for this unit are as follows.

Utilising the workbook, Monitor a Safe Workplace, please answer the following questions in relation to your own work environment. Answers should reflect your own understanding, information from the workbook and your own investigation and research. When you have completed these questions email them to your administration contact along with your signed assessment cover sheet.

To be assessed as competent in this unit, you will need to show that you have a clear understanding of the  OHS legislations that governs your state or territory. Ask you OHS representative to show you where the policies and procedures are and any relevant legislative requirements to your industry.

In some case you will need to consider the State and /or Commonwealth Legislation that you are required to adhere to and in this should form part of your answer to the following questions.

Question 1

Describe the process of informing your staff about the relevant provisions of OHS legislation and codes of practice within the workgroup.

Question 2

How is this information provided to the workgroup including information on the organisation's OHS policies, procedures and programs, and how is it accessible by the workgroup.


How are regular updates provided and clear information explained about identified hazards and the outcomes of riskassessments and control to the workgroup.

Question 4

Explain the importance of effective consultative mechanisms in managing health and safety risks, how they are implemented and monitored to facilitate participation of workgroup in management of work area hazards.

Question 5

Explain how issues are promptly dealt with when raised through consultation, in accordance with organisational consultation procedures and how are they recorded and outcomes communicated to the workgroup over OHS issues.

Question 6

Explain how OHS training is implemented for existing and new employees and how is this built into development plans for staff.

Question 7

Explain how the organisation identifies and assess risk, what procedures are in place for controlling and monitoring risks and how are they recorded.
